Considering Homeschooling?
Our #1 recommendation for information about homeschooling in Wisconsin is the WHPA. They'll get you started with all the basics like laws, curricula, and even a self-assessment tool to help you decide if homeschooling is right for you.

Be sure to come back here to get involved with others and find out what's going on in Southeast Wisconsin.

Creating and nurturing connections and educational opportunities in the greater Milwaukee homeschooling community for over 25 years.

MAHL is a group of homeschooling families who gather for friendship, activities, and support. Members come from all walks of life, setting aside differences in approaches to education, curriculum choices, religious and philosophical beliefs, and parenting styles to create a vibrant and inclusive homeschooling community.

All our activities are contingent on
members volunteering their time and energy to:
- organize activities
- post information
- tend to business like membership and website

Why join MAHL?

  • Enjoy Social Events like the Don't Go Back to School Picnic, Park and Beach Days, and the annual Potluck and Variety Show.

  • Take advantage of Classes and Field Trips for homeschoolers planned by MAHL members: Zoo classes, Milwaukee Art Museum tours, science classes, mindfulness experiences, tours of our city, visits to farms, the Holiday Folk Fair International, and a variety of museums and nature centers.

  • Attend Musical and Theatrical Performances at all of your favorite arts groups and venues, all coordinated for you (or by you!) at drastically reduced prices: Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Skylight Opera, Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, First Stage, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Milwaukee Ballet, and more!

  • Give back to our community through group Service Projects like beach cleanups, veterans support, and Feeding America.

  • Have a Teen? Monthly activities are planned for your kids, with your kids, and by your kids.

  • Be informed about Homeschool and Community Events throughout the Milwaukee metro area and beyond, sponsored by museums, nature centers, and much more.

  • Connect with other like-minded homeschooling families to explore, enjoy, and share our diverse pool of thoughts, interests, gifts, and energies.

Isn't MAHL for people who live in Milwaukee?

Greater Milwaukee refers to the city and surrounding communities. MAHL has activities and members throughout the southeast WI region. Most members live in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties, but some join from Jefferson, Racine/Kenosha and Sheboygan counties to enjoy activities only available in a major metropolitan city- see the list above!

Are all of MAHL's events located in Milwaukee?
MAHL members tend to host activities in their area. While the group makes an effort to facilitate access to major Milwaukee venues like museums, theatres, arts and athletics, we also love finding diverse cultural and educational opportunities available in surrounding communities. We're always on the lookout for new places to visit and things to try!
